Virtual Katy Launches VK Conformer

Virtual Katy today announced a new addition to their product line, VK Conformer. Designed for the sole purpose of conforming and non-destructively recompiling Pro Tools sessions, VK Conformer is cut from the original award winning Virtual Katy software which was put to the test on Peter Jackson's "Lord of the Rings" trilogy. VK Conformer will make its debut at the NAB 2006 exhibition held in Las Vegas NV from April 24 through April 27 in the Avid Developer Community, booth SL1513.

"Manual conform sessions are painful. No sound editor wants to spend any of their valuable time syncing sessions," comments John McKay, founder and head of research and development, Virtual Katy. "VK Conformer offers them the technology to automate this part of their work day at a price point they can afford."

With VK Conform, Pro Tools users can update their audio session utilizing a change list EDL or change note in a fraction of the time it takes manually.

VK Conform Feature Highlights:

* VK Format Support
Support for Avid Change Notes and EDLs

* VK List Cleaner
Parse unwanted elements from lists. For example: split out video and audio elements.

* VK Conform
Identifies the necessary sound file changes and automatically re-syncs the Pro Tools session.

* VK Preview Mode
Conform Control Preview visually and modify region boundaries before committing to the conform.

VK Conformer will ship in April 2006. The MSRP is $395.00.

Bluefish444 Announces Iridas File Support for HD|Lust

Offers Full Format Compatibility for SpeedGrade and FrameCycler

Bluefish444 today announced that IRIDAS has certified all HD|Lust file formats for use with IRIDAS applications. This allows colorists and postproduction artists to ingest video media for use in SpeedGrade DI or FrameCycler DDS and playback rendered sequences through an HD SDI output.

The HD|Lust video card provides HD and SD SDI I/O. Media can be ingested using Symmetry 3 in a variety of formats including 10 bit 4:4:4 and 4:4:4:4 RGB Cineon and DPX. Both single and dual SDI link are available for Cineon and DPX formats. These formats allow facilities to work with uncompressed frames and are ideal for IRIDAS' SpeedGrade DI and FrameCycler DDS applications, providing a postproduction transparent workflow.

HD|Lust ships with Bluefish444's new Symmetry 3 software, providing a user-friendly interface for media ingest and playback and HD hardware color space conversion. Symmetry enables artists to work natively in RGB or YUV.

HD|Lust includes audio support as well as an on-board hardware down converter, which allows for monitoring during processing. In addition, RS422 deck control is supported, providing media ingest or output including insert editing.

IRIDAS SpeedGrade DI is a real-time color grading and film finishing solution offering primary and secondary color correction, conform, and direct integration with SpeedGrade OnSet (look management) and FrameCycler. FrameCycler DDS provides direct-from-disk playback for review and pixel-precise analysis of uncompressed, film-resolution content.

"We are impressed with the Cineon and DPX output capabilities of the HD|Lust card," said IRIDAS VP Michael Gallo. "This is particularly important for postproduction and DI workflows and Bluefish444 has the industry track record in this technology."
