EditShare Field Customer Profile: Australian Football Grand Final
Australia's largest post facility - Cutting Edge - has put EditShare Field through its paces on the Australian Football League's (AFL) Grand Final series aired in high definition (HD) on Network TEN.
The AFL Grand Final is Australia's version of the NFL's Super Bowl and it is consistently Australia's most-watched television show every year. This year's match saw the Geelong Cats overtake the Port Adelaide Power by 119 points. High scoring isn't the only thing unique about "Aussie Rules" football. It's fast-paced and extremely physical - tactics focus on kicking and tackling; in-the-air pass throws aren't allowed. The high energy play on the oversized oval field with four goalposts at each end presents a challenge for broadcast coverage.
Specializing in on-location assignments, the Outdoor Broadcast (OB) unit of Cutting Edge has the country's largest fleet of production equipped vans packed with the latest HD technology. For the AFL Grand Final, Cutting Edge needed a rugged storage solution that would support a high-definition, quick-turn around, collaborative scenario in a temporary location.
A 3TB EditShare Field unit was the answer. EditShare Field is the world's first portable shared storage solution. The unit is compact and ruggedized, perfect for field work. Like all EditShare media sharing and storage products, EditShare Field supports a wide range of editing and compositing applications. EditShare Field stores audio and video files in a central networked location and connects to laptops and desktops over standard Gigabit Ethernet. EditShare Field supports all SD and compressed HD resolutions (including DNxHD).

New EditShare Customer Profile: Merit/Andrew
Business was growing for Merit Andrew, a boutique film production company based in Orange County, California. The company's four edit bays were humming with work ranging from national spots and music videos to high-end industrial films. The firm has seven full time employees, but multiple crews of up to a hundred professionals are often in the field.
Executive Producer Curt Fleming says the company was feeling some real pain moving around media, wasting more than two hours each day just to get media from room to room. An entire production day per week was spent managing media manually. To get back this wasted time, Merit Andrew needed to automate and streamline their workflow with a shared storage solution.
Fleming followed strict criteria as he considered every available system. "We're not willy-nilly with our funds and we do our homework before we invest in anything. It has to pan out financially," he explained. The solution had to support Avid as well as other editing and compositing systems. He wanted an open, heterogeneous environment with protected storage at an affordable price point. Fleming says, "Key Code Media helped us evaluate multiple solutions for our workflow, outlining the positives and workflow constraints and their impact to us. Once all the questions were answered, EditShare was a no-brainer."

Post Magazine Reviews Boris Continuum Complete 5
Here is an excerpt from the review:
"Boris Continuum Complete (BCC) has become an indispensable tool for my post production workflow. A job is not 'complete' until it's been run through Continuum Complete. No matter what kind of job it is: from keying to motion tracking or grading to uprezing, BCC has something for everyone." Labels: BCC-5, Boris, Review
